LUKE CHRISTIE TO SERVE AS 2008 HARLEY-DAVIDSON AND MDA GOODWILL AMBASSADOR
Milwaukee (January 4, 2008) – Harley-Davidson and the Muscular Dystrophy Association announce that Luke Christie will serve as Goodwill Ambassador for Harley-Davidson fundraising efforts to benefit the MDA throughout the U.S. in 2008.
Luke, a 14-year-old resident of Due West, S.C., previously served two very active terms as National Goodwill Ambassador for MDA.
Harley-Davidson Motor Co. President and Chief Operating Officer Jim McCaslin said the company is lucky to have Christie as part of the team. “Luke is an amazing young man and we’re looking forward to having him represent MDA at Harley-Davidson’s 105th Anniversary and Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) 25th Anniversary events.”
Through his previous role, Christie participated in several Harley-Davidson events including annual dealer meetings and top Harley-Davidson fundraising events.
In 2008, he will participate in year-long activities culminating with Harley-Davidson’s 105th Anniversary and H.O.G events taking place in Milwaukee August 27-31, 2008.
MDA National Chairman Jerry Lewis said Christie is a natural talent for the new position. “Luke has two years of solid spokesperson experience under his belt,” Lewis said. “I know he’ll do great work for Harley-Davidson’s efforts on behalf of MDA.”
Harley-Davidson has been a national sponsor of the Muscular Dystrophy Association since 1980 and the Harley-Davidson family of dealers, riders, suppliers and employees has raised more than $65 million for MDA. The funds raised support life-saving research, comprehensive medical care for children and adults with neuromuscular disease and MDA summer camps.
