A letter from T-Mobile to SunCom customers

February 7, 2008

A letter from T-Mobile to SunCom customers

As you may have heard, T-Mobile is in the process of purchasing SunCom to enable us to provide wireless services to the Carolinas sometime in 2008.

While we still need to get all the necessary approvals, we thought it would be important to answer some questions about T-Mobile for current and soon-to-be SunCom customers.

Let’s talk about T-Mobile’s planned approach to serving SunCom customers. Simply put, it’s our intention to provide comparable or greater value rate plans to SunCom customers. So whether you’re a SunCom customer today, or you’re thinking about signing up for SunCom service, T-Mobile looks forward to serving you and your existing rate plan, including the SunCom UnPlan.

T-Mobile, like SunCom, has a variety of plans that let customers make unlimited calls to the people who matter most to them. There’s a host of other benefits too. For one, we will be bringing SunCom customers complete access to a coast-to-coast national wireless network. On top of this, we’ve committed right out of the gate to making further improvements to the SunCom wireless network in the Carolinas. In addition, T-Mobile also has an outstanding customer service record. We’ve captured the top J.D. Power Award for Wireless Customer Care six times in a row. All this, combined with our cool lineup of phones and wireless devices, is great news for SunCom customers transitioning to T-Mobile.

We’re excited to be bringing T-Mobile service to the Carolinas. And once everything is wrapped up and we receive all the necessary approvals, we will be working around the clock to ensure that the transition for SunCom customers goes as smoothly as possible. Happily, as part of this transition, customers will not need to change their phone number or migrate to new phones or new technology to use their current service as our two companies already offer services on the same industry platforms.

No doubt there will be other questions that come up. But for now, rest assured we are doing all we can to put everything in place to bring T-Mobile’s stellar wireless services to the Carolinas as soon as we possibly can in 2008. We can’t wait to serve you!

First-Round Pairings Set for T-Mobile Invitational National High School Basketball Tournament

First-Round Pairings Set for T-Mobile Invitational National High School Basketball Tournament

Games to Be Nationally Televised Live on VERSUS Cable Network

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., — December 6, 2007 – The first-round pairings of boys and girls teams for the second annual T-Mobile Invitational national high school basketball tournament have been announced by T-Mobile USA, Inc., and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).

The tournament, which will be televised live on the VERSUS cable television network, will be played December 28-29 in “The Pit” on the campus of the University of New Mexico. The T-Mobile Invitational is the only basketball tournament sponsored by the NFHS, and the field is composed only of schools from NFHS-member associations.

Leading off the December 28 first-round girls games is a matchup between the USA Today “Super 25” team Long Beach (California) Poly High School and Dayton (Ohio) Chaminade-Julienne High School. The second girls game pits defending Virginia High School League Class AAA state champion Hampton High School, against the Bengals of Gallup (New Mexico) High School.

The first boys game features defending Utah High School Activities Association Class 5A state champion Highland Lone Peak High School against Georgia High School Association Class AAAAA runner-up Roswell Centennial High School. In the second game, Jersey City (New Jersey) St. Anthony, one of the nation’s most storied basketball programs, meets Albuquerque (New Mexico) La Cueva High School.

On December 29, the first-round losers will square off in morning and early afternoon games, with the girls and boys championships to be decided later that day.

St. Anthony has won a nation-leading 24 state titles (New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association), including a national-record nine consecutive from 1983 to 1991. Coach Bob Hurley has won 901 career games, which ranks him fourth in the nation among active boys basketball coaches, and has won an amazing 91 percent of his games. Rutgers signee 6-foot-1 senior guard Mike Rosario is expected to lead the talent-laden Friars in 2007-08.

For the second year in a row, one of the top-ranked girls team in USA Today’s “Super 25” is participating in the T-Mobile Invitational. Last year, Suwanee (Georgia) Collins Hill High School parlayed its T-Mobile Invitational title into an undefeated season and a mythical national championship.

Long Beach Poly is hoping to follow that same path this year. Led by California Division 1 Player of the Year Jasmine Dixon and the addition of highly touted junior Monique Oliver, the Jackrabbits are expected to vie for a California Interscholastic Federation state title and for lofty national rankings.

“This year’s field is outstanding,” said Robert F. Kanaby, NFHS executive director. “We’re very pleased that the country will be able to see not only some of the nation’s best basketball players, but some of the top all-around student-athletes as well.”

“We can’t wait for this year’s tournament,” said Mike Belcher, director of Sponsorships and Entertainment Marketing, T-Mobile USA. “We’re excited about the quality of the teams, the quality of the individuals involved and the overall support we’ve already seen in the greater Albuquerque area.”

In addition to the two days of games, all coaches and players of the participating schools will join local T-Mobile employees for a T-Mobile Huddle Up community service project on December 27 designed to improve the after-school facilities at McKinley Middle School (located at 4500 Comanche NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico). T-Mobile Huddle Up is T-Mobile USA’s community outreach program connecting kids, primarily from single-parent families, in high-need urban communities to positive people, places and programs. T-Mobile Huddle Up focuses on addressing the critical need for safe, high-quality after-school programs for kids nationwide.

Here is the complete schedule of games (game times are approximate and subject to change). Game times are Mountain Standard Time:

T-Mobile to Introduce More-Flexible Contract Terms for Customers

The Recognized Leader in Wireless Customer Care Announces a New, More-Flexible Policy

BELLEVUE, Wash. – Nov. 7, 2007 – T-Mobile USA, Inc. today announced upcoming changes that will result in a new and more flexible policy for customers entering into contracts for service with T-Mobile USA.

Under the company’s new guidelines, early termination fees (ETFs) will decline during the course of a customer’s contract with T-Mobile. The new ETF policy, and the specific details of the policy, are expected to be finalized and introduced in the first half of 2008. When they become effective, the terms will apply to new customers as well as current customers renewing contracts with T-Mobile.

“T-Mobile is widely recognized as the undisputed service leader in wireless. We want to do everything possible to create a great experience so customers want to stay with us for years,” said Sue Nokes, senior vice president, Sales and Customer Service, T-Mobile USA. “This announcement builds on our heritage of listening closely to our customers and always striving to meet their needs.”

In 2007, T-Mobile earned the highest ranking from the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Wireless Customer Care Performance Study – Volume 2, marking the sixth consecutive period that T-Mobile has held the top spot. T-Mobile not only earned the highest ranking, but its overall customer care score was significantly higher than any other wireless carrier.

T-Mobile also is a pioneer in offering a variety of innovative phone plans and services for customers, including:

T-Mobile myFavesSM, an exclusive offering available only from T-Mobile, offers unlimited nationwide calling to one’s five favorite people, to any phone in the U.S. — even landlines.
T-Mobile HotSpot @HomeSM is a service and plan that offers customers great wireless coverage and unlimited domestic calling over Wi-Fi from home. Customers also can get the same benefits while mobile at all of the nearly 8,500 T-Mobile HotSpot locations across the country.
Personal Coverage Check (PCC), a helpful tool available at t-mobile.com and at T-Mobile stores, empowers customers to check if T-Mobile coverage is right for them before they sign up for service. PCC lets people check T-Mobile wireless coverage at their home and work addresses, for instance; and search by address, intersection or landmark.
T-Mobile FlexPaySM is a program that offers customers access to nationwide long-distance calling and roaming, the latest phones, and T-Mobile’s great rate plans including myFaves — all without having to commit to a long-term service agreement or make a hefty deposit. T-Mobile also offers a variety of convenient pay-as-you-go plans and services, including FlexPay.

INDUSTRY LEADERS ANNOUNCE OPEN PLATFORM FOR MOBILE DEVICES

February 7, 2008

INDUSTRY LEADERS ANNOUNCE OPEN PLATFORM FOR MOBILE DEVICES

Group Pledges to Unleash Innovation for Mobile Users Worldwide

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.; BONN, Germany; TAOYUAN, Taiwan; SAN DIEGO, Calif.; SCHAUMBERG, Ill., November 5, 2007 — A broad alliance of leading technology and wireless companies today joined forces to announce the development of Android, the first truly open and comprehensive platform for mobile devices. Google Inc., T-Mobile, HTC, Qualcomm, Motorola and others have collaborated on the development of Android through the Open Handset Alliance, a multinational alliance of technology and mobile industry leaders.

This alliance shares a common goal of fostering innovation on mobile devices and giving consumers a far better user experience than much of what is available on today’s mobile platforms. By providing developers a new level of openness that enables them to work more collaboratively, Android will accelerate the pace at which new and compelling mobile services are made available to consumers.

With nearly 3 billion users worldwide, the mobile phone has become the most personal and ubiquitous communications device. However, the lack of a collaborative effort has made it a challenge for developers, wireless operators and handset manufacturers to respond as quickly as possible to the ever-changing needs of savvy mobile consumers. Through Android, developers, wireless operators and handset manufacturers will be better positioned to bring to market innovative new products faster and at a much lower cost. The end result will be an unprecedented mobile platform that will enable wireless operators and manufacturers to give their customers better, more personal and more flexible mobile experiences.

Thirty-four companies have formed the Open Handset Alliance, which aims to develop technologies that will significantly lower the cost of developing and distributing mobile devices and services. The Android platform is the first step in this direction — a fully integrated mobile “software stack” that consists of an operating system, middleware, user-friendly interface and applications. Consumers should expect the first phones based on Android to be available in the second half of 2008.

The Android platform will be made available under one of the most progressive, developer-friendly open-source licenses, which gives mobile operators and device manufacturers significant freedom and flexibility to design products. Next week the Alliance will release an early access software development kit to provide developers with the tools necessary to create innovative and compelling applications for the platform.

Android holds the promise of unprecedented benefits for consumers, developers and manufacturers of mobile services and devices. Handset manufacturers and wireless operators will be free to customize Android in order to bring to market innovative new products faster and at a much lower cost. Developers will have complete access to handset capabilities and tools that will enable them to build more compelling and user-friendly services, bringing the Internet developer model to the mobile space. And consumers worldwide will have access to less expensive mobile devices that feature more compelling services, rich Internet applications and easier-to-use interfaces — ultimately creating a superior mobile experience.

Open Software, Open Device, Open Ecosystem

“This partnership will help unleash the potential of mobile technology for billions of users around the world. A fresh approach to fostering innovation in the mobile industry will help shape a new computing environment that will change the way people access and share information in the future,” said Google Chairman and CEO Eric Schmidt. “Today’s announcement is more ambitious than any single ‘Google Phone’ that the press has been speculating about over the past few weeks. Our vision is that the powerful platform we’re unveiling will power thousands of different phone models.”

“As a founding member of the Open Handset Alliance, T-Mobile is committed to innovation and fostering an open platform for wireless services to meet the rapidly evolving and emerging needs of wireless customers,” said René Obermann, Chief Executive Officer, Deutsche Telekom, parent company of T-Mobile. “Google has been an established partner for T-Mobile’s groundbreaking approach to bring the mobile open Internet to the mass market. We see the Android platform as an exciting opportunity to launch robust wireless Internet and Web 2.0 services for T-Mobile customers in the US and Europe in 2008.”

“HTC’s trademark on the mobile industry has been its ability to drive cutting-edge innovation into a wide variety of mobile devices to create the perfect match for individuals,” said Peter Chou, Chief Executive Officer, HTC Corp. “Our participation in the Open Handset Alliance and integration of the Android platform in the second half of 2008 enables us to expand our device portfolio into a new category of connected mobile phones that will change the complexion of the mobile industry and re-create user expectations of the mobile phone experience.”

“The convergence of the wireless and Internet industries is creating new partnerships, evolving business models and driving innovation,” said Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, Chief Executive Officer of Qualcomm. “We are extremely pleased to be participating in the Open Handset Alliance, whose mission is to help build the leading open-source application platform for 3G networks. The proliferation of open-standards-based handsets will provide an exciting new opportunity to create compelling services and devices. As a result, we are committing research and development resources to enable the Android platform and to create the best always-connected consumer experience on our chipsets.”

“Motorola has long been an advocate of open software for mobile platforms. Today, we’re excited to continue this support by joining Google and others in the announcement of the Open Handset Alliance and Android platform. Motorola plans to leverage the Android platform to enable seamless, connected services and rich consumer experiences in future Motorola products,” said Ed Zander, Chairman and CEO of Motorola, Inc

T-Mobile Launches the T-Mobile Shadow – the First in a Planned Family of People-Centric Phones Built to Help Customers Stick Together with Those Who Matter Most

T-Mobile Launches the T-Mobile Shadow – the First in a Planned Family of People-Centric Phones Built to Help Customers Stick Together with Those Who Matter Most

T-Mobile Shadow™ Attacks Complexity through Super-Simple Communication Interfaces Designed To Make Popular Calling, Messaging and Picture Sharing Features Quick and Easy to Use

BELLEVUE, Wash. – Oct. 29, 2007 – T-Mobile USA, Inc., today announces the upcoming availability of the T-Mobile Shadow™ – the first phone in a planned franchise of phones under the Shadow brand, a name that will become synonymous with playful, easier and richer communications experiences offered only by T-Mobile®.

Available beginning October 31, the T-Mobile Shadow is designed to significantly reduce the complexity often associated with many feature-rich devices, while maintaining all the powerful calling, messaging and picture sharing capabilities people crave to keep them connected.

“We’re calling the new line of devices ‘Shadow’ because they’re designed to help people stay effortlessly connected with those who are closest to them – the people you would choose to have with you all the time if possible – the people you love checking in with during a hectic day or to share special news,” said Robert Dotson, president and CEO, T-Mobile USA. “Shadow finally makes staying connected to people simple, fun and easy – and all without the hassle of using a complicated device. This is not a productivity tool. This phone is designed for people who have lives beyond work.”

For years, T-Mobile has been pioneering new products and services designed to reduce the complexity of staying connected to important people. This effort began years ago with the introduction of the T-Mobile Sidekick® family of devices, designed to make calling, texting and instant messaging much easier just as young adults were beginning to embrace these new forms of communication. In 2006, T-Mobile continued this work with the introduction of myFaves®, a service that offers unlimited nationwide calling and one-click communications access to the people who are most important to you.* The myFaves service was introduced simultaneously with the introduction of T-Mobile’s new “stick together®” brand promise, a commitment by the company to focus laser-like on making it much easier and richer to stay connected with the people who matter most.

The T-Mobile Shadow helps people effortlessly connect through the phone’s innovative design and screamingly simple user interface. T-Mobile teamed with HTC, the designer and manufacturer, to eloquently integrate the phone’s form and function. This focused effort resulted in an unmatched communications experience that strips out the complexity of traditional multi-function phones – so people don’t have to wrestle with technology – and makes it more intuitive for customers to explore and try new ways to communicate.

“We partnered exclusively with T-Mobile to help them deliver a deep communications experience that is built around the customer,” said Peter Chou, president and CEO, HTC. “In both form and function, the T-Mobile Shadow delivers an unmistakable commitment to enhancing personal relationships.”

Highlighting the phone’s distinct features and its complete ease of use, the T-Mobile Shadow offers:*

An enhanced myFaves functionality that allows even more flexibility and ways to communicate and connect. Through this experience customers can now call, send an e-mail, text or instant message, and share a picture, video or voice note, all with a push of the button right from the myFaves home screen.
An enhanced user-interface integrated with the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 platform.
A sleek, slider design, and a spin navigation wheel that make it a breeze to scroll through the polished user interface, myFaves icons, and other core phone features.
One of the largest, most-radiant screens on any T-Mobile phone. When combined with its high-quality, 2.0-megapixel digital camera with video capture, it enables customers to record and share those special moments in vibrant ways. Plus, a multimedia player provides a convenient way to listen to and share favorite music and video.
An array of lights and sounds that differentiate one function from another, whether you’re receiving an e-mail, picture message or calendar appointment notification.
Wi-Fi and EDGE-enabled high-speed Internet access to power Web surfing so that connecting to your favorite social networking site is quick and easy.
A reminder feature, so customers need never forget another friend’s or family member’s birthday or anniversary with the ability to set reminders for these important days in the lives of their ‘fave five.’
T-Mobile Address Book that lets customers easily import contact information from Yahoo! ®, Gmail™, Microsoft Outlook® and other e-mail services onto their phone using my.t-mobile.com, and automatically back up their phone’s address book online.

The T-Mobile Shadow will be available in two fashionable tones – copper and sage. It will be available exclusively to T-Mobile customers beginning Oct. 31 at T-Mobile retail stores and online at www.t-mobile.com.Customers can learn more about the T-Mobile Shadow, including in-depth features information, at www.t-mobile.com/shadow.

*myFaves allows unlimited nationwide calling to any five U.S. numbers (restrictions and exclusions apply). Use of certain features of a myFaves-enabled device requires purchase of a T-Mobile myFaves rate plan, and separate charges apply for some services and features, including email, text, picture and other messages, and Internet usage. See www.t-mobile.com for information about charges, rate plans, terms and conditions, and restrictions.
